Chop Chop Wok: Designer Noodles

A few days ago, we decided to have a quick lunch at this new cafe, that goes by the name Chop Chop Wok. This restaurant is an Asian themed place, and the food is quite delicious.

The Chop Chop Wok Menu
Chop Chop Wok started out a few weeks ago as a noodle and rice bar takeaway place in Khadda Market, but due to immense popularity, they placed a few benches and tables inside for customers' convenience. It is a small place, but I want it to expand, which I am sure it will, as they have another outlet opening soon near Dolmen Mall.

Now, to the exciting part, the food. We all designed our own noodle dishes. Mine was rice noodles with Vietnamese sauce and beef. It was fairly spicy, with fabulously cooked beef. The only problem was that in all of the bowls, the rice noodles were slightly overcooked, giving them a mushy feel and texture. Tastewise though, I loved my dish.

My sister ordered rice noodles with Oriental sauce and prawns. There was slightly more salt than needed and as earlier mentioned, overcooked noodles. The sauce was mild, with a balance between sweet and spice. The prawns were excellent.

My mum's dish was definitely not the winner for me. I kind of dislike Thai sauces, especially with noodles. This dish had Thai sauce with prawns, beef and rice noodles. Although people who like Thai food will love this dish, I was not a big fan of it.

In my opinion, my own dish was the winner. I absolutely loved it and writing this review is making me want to eat it right now!

One thing I'd like to point out though is that the serving size is not enough for big eaters. Given the prices, the quantity should be more than what is being served.

For dessert, we had Fried Ice-cream. I have mixed feelings about this one. The outer layer itself was not crisp and had a spicy after-taste, like it had been cooked in reused oil. It tasted a little like fried chicken. The whole ball was slightly soggy like it had been cooked a while ago. However, the icecream inside was tough as a rock. And it was quite a task to make a spoonful with both the icecream and the crust. This was my first time trying fried ice-cream. I think the idea is pretty good. If Chop Chop Wok fixes all of the above flaws, then I shall come daily for this dessert.

If you do decide to visit this place, it is in the heart of Khadda Market, right next to Indus Foods. If you're not too sure about which dish you want, then you are most welcome to choose one from here. View their Facebook page here.

Touring Karachi!

We celebrated my sister's thirteenth birthday with her friends and family with a novel guided tour around Karachi. We did this with a new tourist attraction called the Super Savari Express, which took us all around Karachi aboard a typical vibrant mini-bus.
.

The Super Savari Express

The tour began at 9:00 am on a pleasant Saturday morning, lasted about 5 hours, and was genuinely a lot of fun. We drove through Saddar and I.I. Chundrigar Road, viewing a number of attractions, and stopped over at five: Kabootar Chowk (Pigeon Chowk), Flagstaff House ( Quaid-e-Azam's house), St Patrick's Cathedral, State Bank of Pakistan Museum, and the Truck Art Wall. The tour concluded at California Pizza where we had lunch and cake.

At Kabooter Chowk, we had fun running through the hoards of pigeons, and everyone has a picture with a flock of pigeons flying behind them.

The Flagstaff House was obviously a good experience for all Pakistani children, visiting the majestic house of the great man who founded our country.

Only a handful of the children had ever been to a church before this trip, and found St Patrick's Cathedral to be a beautiful place to visit. It was pleasant to find the Christian community so welcoming and warm to Muslims.

The State Bank Museum tour was very educational and taught us about the money before dollars, pounds, rupees, etc. They have a large collection of coins dating back to even 5000 BC. Their banknotes are also prized antiques.

The last stop at the Truck Art Wall was quick but awesome. We took loads of pictures in front of the bright and vibrant wall art.

Super Savari ExpressWe all loved every minute of this eventful trip, and I dearly wish to go again. If you are a fan of travelling or just want to see our beautiful Karachi in true Karachi style, then be sure to book your tour on The Super Karachi's Facebook page here: Super Savari Express
