Chop Chop Wok: Designer Noodles

A few days ago, we decided to have a quick lunch at this new cafe, that goes by the name Chop Chop Wok. This restaurant is an Asian themed place, and the food is quite delicious.

Chop Chop Wok started out a few weeks ago as a noodle and rice bar takeaway place in Khadda Market, but due to immense popularity, they placed a few benches and tables inside for customers' convenience. It is a small place, but I want it to expand, which I am sure it will, as they have another outlet opening soon near Dolmen Mall.

Now, to the exciting part, the food. We all designed our own noodle dishes. Mine was rice noodles with Vietnamese sauce and beef. It was fairly spicy, with fabulously cooked beef. The only problem was that in all of the bowls, the rice noodles were slightly overcooked, giving them a mushy feel and texture. Tastewise though, I loved my dish.

My sister ordered rice noodles with Oriental sauce and prawns. There was slightly more salt than needed and as earlier mentioned, overcooked noodles. The sauce was mild, with a balance between sweet and spice. The prawns were excellent.

My mum's dish was definitely not the winner for me. I kind of dislike Thai sauces, especially with noodles. This dish had Thai sauce with prawns, beef and rice noodles. Although people who like Thai food will love this dish, I was not a big fan of it.

In my opinion, my own dish was the winner. I absolutely loved it and writing this review is making me want to eat it right now!

One thing I'd like to point out though is that the serving size is not enough for big eaters. Given the prices, the quantity should be more than what is being served.

For dessert, we had Fried Ice-cream. I have mixed feelings about this one. The outer layer itself was not crisp and had a spicy after-taste, like it had been cooked in reused oil. It tasted a little like fried chicken. The whole ball was slightly soggy like it had been cooked a while ago. However, the icecream inside was tough as a rock. And it was quite a task to make a spoonful with both the icecream and the crust. This was my first time trying fried ice-cream. I think the idea is pretty good. If Chop Chop Wok fixes all of the above flaws, then I shall come daily for this dessert.
